Abraham Lincoln, then 9 years old, sees Jack Barts, a vampire, slay his mother. About ten years later, he makes an unsuccessful attempt to kill Barts but meets Henry Sturgess along the way, who instructs him on how to fight and what is necessary to kill a vampire. Abe will only murder vampires that Henry instructs him to kill as the exchange of goods and services. Abe moves to Springfield, where he finds work as a store clerk during the day and pursues legal studies and vampire hunting at night. Additionally, he meets the lovely Mary Todd, whom he later marries. He learns that vampires are fighting alongside the Confederate soldiers many years later, as President of the United States.
