I am what I am 2021 (chinese animation)

Unquestionably among the best Chinese cartoons

One of the 2021 movies that sparked a heated discussion was this animation. I am What I Am, however, is a fantastic Chinese film in my view.

The story follows Juan, a weak teenage boy who is also passionate about lion dancing, a traditional Chinese art form in which performers imitate lion movements while dressed as lions. Juan competes in the top lion dance competition for glory and cash, and the story follows his journey there.

Some have condemned it because of the characters' looks, stating that it dehumanizes Guangdong people; others believe that the learning of the Lion dancing is too quick and unrealistic. Okay, those make some sense, but hey, it's animation, so (not a documentary).
