A writer who uses all of his brain capacity after taking an experimental drug is the subject of an action-thriller. One guy becomes the ideal representation of himself, but powers that are more corrupt than he can imagine mark him for death. Eddie Morra (Cooper), an unemployed writer, believes he has no future after Lindy (Abbie Cornish) rejects him. All of that disappears the day an old buddy introduces Eddie to NZT, a synthetic drug that gives him laser-focused clarity and gives him more self-assurance than any other guy alive. Everything Eddie has read, heard, or seen is immediately organized and at his disposal as he travels on a NZT-fueled quest. Business tycoon Carl Van Loon notices the erstwhile nobody as he ascends to the top of the financial world.
