The last-minute Independence Day shift assignment for Detective James Knight becomes a race against time to prevent a tipping ambulance EMT from jeopardizing the city's celebrations. There are plenty of excuses for the misguided vigilante to stage his own fireworks display, one that will come perilously close to Knight's house while wearing a stolen rifle and costume and playing the role of a police officer.
