The actual account of Reggie and Ronnie Kray, two of London's most infamous criminals. While Reggie attempts to become genuine for local girl Frances Shea, Ronnie advances the family company through threats and violence as the brothers ascend through the criminal underground. The brothers' empire is in danger of collapsing due to Ronnie's erratic tendencies both inside and outside of prison and Reggie's marriage's gradual breakdown.
